Worcester Middle School Gets Nearly 400 New Energy-Efficient Windows
The new windows are designed to improve conditions inside of the building.
WORCESTER, MA — A school in Worcester is entering the new school year with hundreds of new windows designed to improve conditions inside of the building.
A major project replaced 375 windows at Worcester East Middle School. City and state leaders recently gathered to mark the addition of the energy-efficient windows, which are expected to improve insulation, security and indoor air quality, according to Worcester Public Schools.
The work began in 2025 as a two-summer project supported by a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Improving Ventilation and Air Quality grant and Worcester Public Schools capital funds, according to the district.
“Improving the safety and energy efficiency of our school facilities is fundamental to our commitment of providing modernized and safe facilities for students and staff,” Superintendent Brian E. Allen said. “These summer projects reflect our continued commitment to every school community in Worcester. We thank our state and federal partners for their continuous support.”
The district’s Facilities Department is also completing projects across Worcester ahead of the new school year.
The work includes accessibility improvements at Thorndyke Road School and Lincoln Street School, repairs to the hydroponic garden container at Vernon Hill School and maintenance projects throughout the district.
