Worcester Mosquito Spraying Schedule: August 2022
The Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project will return starting Aug. 2 to eradicate mosquitoes.
WORCESTER, MA — The Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project will visit Worcester five times in August to spray for mosquitoes, according to a new schedule released this week.
The mosquito control project makes regular stops throughout the summer in a few dozen cities and towns in Worcester and Middlesex counties. In the summer, CMMCP typically uses the pesticide Zenivex E4 to kill adult mosquitoes. Pesticide applications in the spring typically target mosquito larvae.
This August, the control project will spray in Worcester on Aug. 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30. Exact spraying locations get released by 3 p.m. on the appointed treatment day.

Since the last round of spraying occurred in July, state health officials have detected West Nile Virus in mosquitoes located in Massachusetts. The July 14 discovery prompted officials to warn residents to take precautions while outdoors — like covering skin and using insect repellent, avoiding outdoor activity during dawn and dusk hours and draining standing water that mosquitoes can use to breed.
Local residents can also request CMMCP service for problem areas online. Alternatively, residents can request to be excluded from routine spraying.
