WORCESTER, MA — Residents will have a chance to meet the large field of At-Large City Council candidates at an NAACP Worcester candidates forum set for Wednesday.

Ten people are running for At-Large seats in 2021, including six incumbents. Councilor Gary Rosen is not running for reelection in 2021, leaving one seat wide open — however, District 5 Councilor Matthew Wally is running for an At-Large seat this year.

Apart from Wally, incumbents Kate Toomey, Donna Colorio, Khrystian King, Joseph Petty and Morris Bergman are trying to keep their At-Large seats. Petty and Colorio will also compete in the mayoral race. If Petty wins the mayoral race this year, it'll be his sixth term in the role.

At-Large challengers this year include Guillermo Creamer, Thu Nguyen, and Bill Coleman and Peter Stefan — who are both in the mayoral race. YWCA of Central Massachusetts Executive Director Deb Hall qualified for the At-Large race, but suspended her campaign in May after accepting the YWCA leadership role.

The NAACP candidate forum begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Worcester Boys and Girls Club, 65 Boys and Girls Club Way. Attendees must wear masks, according to the organizers.
