Worcester Police Investigating Charter School Cheerleading Staff
The misconduct investigation comes after Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School cheer staff were placed on leave.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester police have launched a criminal investigation into possible misconduct by cheerleading staff at Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School, according to reports.
The criminal probe came a day after the New Bond Street school placed several members of the cheer staff on administrative leave, according to Boston 25. The school has suspended cheerleading activities and has hired an outside investigator to look into allegations.
"Our student’s safety and wellbeing are paramount and guide our school policies and behavioral codes. We do not tolerate violations of these standards," the school said in a statement, according to Boston 25.
The Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School was founded in 1998, and initially opened to students in kindergarten through 5th grade. The school later expanded to middle and high school grades.
Abby Kelley Foster is one of two charter schools in Worcester along with Learning First Charter Public School. A group affiliated with Old Sturbridge Village has asked the state for permission to open a new charter in Worcester.
