Worcester Downtown Reopened After Bomb Threat Near City Hall
The threat was emailed to Santander Bank on Main Street.
WORCESTER, MA — A bomb threat that was emailed to a downtown bank in Worcester shut down Main Street and Front Street temporarily on Wednesday. Main Street was reopened quickly but Front Street remained closed until about 4:30 p.m.
Police said the threat was emailed to Santander Bank at 446 Main Street and demanded money. The bank is less than a block away from City Hall. The department said they treat all threats very seriously, police did not specify if the threat disclosed a specific amount of money.
State police worked with Worcester police to do a sweep of the area. Worcester police brought in the K9 unit to search for suspicious devices but nothing was found. The area was reopened and cleared by 4:40 p.m.
It was some type of threat via email. Threat doesn’t appear credible, I’m hearing. #Worcester pic.twitter.com/sZ0mZhVd0Q
