Worcester Police Officer Suffers Eye Injury In 3-Car Crash

Two other drivers were injured in the crash.

WORCESTER, MA — A police officer and two other drivers were injured in a three-car crash in Worcester on Tuesday afternoon. The officer was driving an unmarked cruiser and was trapped inside, police said.

The crash happened at the intersection of Grove and Chester streets at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The officer was driving south on Grove Street when a Subaru came down Chester Street toward Grove Street, and didn't stop at the stop sign, hitting the passenger’s side of the cruiser, police said.

The crash pushed the cruiser across the yellow line into oncoming traffic coming north on Grove Street and the cruiser's driver's side door hit another car, police said. The cruiser was severely damaged on both sides and the officer was trapped inside, according to police.

The officer was taken to the hospital for his injuries including a severe eye injuries and the other two drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment, police said.
