Worcester Police Officer Retires After 32 Years
A longtime Worcester police officer is retiring after more than three decades of service to the city.
WORCESTER, MA — A longtime Worcester police officer is retiring after more than three decades of service to the city.
Officer Angela Consiglio is retiring after 32 years with the Worcester Police Department, the department announced Friday. Consiglio most recently worked in the department’s Traffic Division.
Department staff gathered for lunch and cake Friday to mark her retirement.
The Traffic Division supports roadway safety through public education and traffic enforcement.
Consiglio was among five police officers awarded the Carnegie Medal for their response to the June 4, 2021, drowning emergency at Green Hill Park. Consiglio entered the pond and made repeated dives while searching for a teenager and Worcester Officer Enmanuel Familia, according to the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission. Both Familia and the teenager died.
“Officer Consiglio, we thank you for everything and wish you a happy retirement,” the department said.
