Worcester Schools Release Bus Routes Early
The buses drive nearly 12 thousand students every day.
WORCESTER, MA — Worcester Public Schools said it has officially shared its bus routes for the coming school year.
The school district announced its buses are fully staffed, and it will operate more than one hundred bus routes to drive nearly 12 thousand students every day. WPS sought to release this transportation information well ahead of the first day of school.
“Being fully staffed with bus drivers is a major achievement given national shortages,” Superintendent Brian E. Allen said. “It reflects our commitment to recruitment, training, and retention, which helps us ensure safe and reliable transportation for our students.”
WPS will also begin using 20 new electric buses later in the fall. The district said it is finalizing its electric charging stations.
This is the fourth school year that WPS has operated its transportation, which has cut the school district's costs by more than $5 million a year.
