Worcester In The Snowstorm: Updates From The City
Check in on parking bans, plowing information and cancelations.

WORCESTER, MA — As the snow storm pummels the area, Worcester officials are updating residents on storm-related information.
Below is the latest (as of 1:15 p.m.) on information regarding the storm, via Worcester DPW:
• All municipal offices, including City Hall and the Worcester Public Library are closed today.
• City of Worcester Department of Public Works and Parks crews have more than 350 pieces of equipment out plowing Worcester’s 500 miles of roads.
• Trash and recycling will be collected as usual on Thursday.
• The Worcester Regional Transit Authority is on snow routes for the duration of the storm. Please check www.therta.com or the Worcester Regional Transit Authority for updates.
• Scheduled meetings of the license and the historical commission have been postponed to next Thursday, Feb. 16.
• All programs, meals and transportation are cancelled for Thursday at the Worcester Senior Center. Call 508-799-1232 for more information.
• St. John’s soup kitchen on Temple Street will open their overflow homeless shelter at 4 p.m. on Thursday. They also plan to open on Friday at the usual 7 p.m.
• Any power outage inquiries or reports should go to National Grid. To report outages and downed wires, call 1-800-465-1212.
• Residents are encouraged to sign up for the city’s emergency alert system, ALERT Worcester, at www.worcesterma.gov/ready. Messages can be received via phone, email, or text.
As of 1:20 p.m., National Grid reports no outages out of the 299,090 customers in Worcester.
