Man Charged With Murder In Worcester Stabbing

Josue Rios, 29, was found stabbed along Cutler Street early Tuesday morning.

WORCESTER, MA — A 29-year-old Worcester man is now facing a murder charge following a fatal stabbing early Tuesday morning in the Union Hill area.

Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said Thursday that charges against Benjamin Willie, 20, a Dorchester Street resident, have been upgraded to murder, assault and battery, and malicious destruction of property.

Josue Rios, 29, was found at around 1 a.m. along Cutler Street with a stab wound. He was pronounced dead after he was taken to a local hospital, police said.

This is the second homicide so far in 2020 in Worcester. Traci Swan, 27, died on May 26 after she was stabbed during an altercation with two other people. Naomi Lawrence, 29, an acquaintance of Swan's, has been charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon in connection to Swan's killing.

Willie is set to appear in court next on Monday. He is being held in jail.
