WORCESTER, MA — A longtime local pool is welcoming swimmers again following a big renovation.

British Swim School of Worcester reopened its pool at 603 Pleasant St. in Paxton, inside Soccer Asylum, with a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday. The school will continue the celebration on Saturday with a free Splash-a-Palooza event from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

The family event will include an open swim and opportunities to tour the renovated facility and learn about the school’s programs.

Renovation Project

The project included replastering and retiling the pool, installing new filtration equipment, improving the HVAC system and replacing the pool deck, according to the company. The facility also received permanent changing rooms, baby changing tables, a rebuilt deck-level shower and a permanent customer service area.

The pool’s future became uncertain after a change in building ownership. British Swim School owners Danny Bolivar and Daniel Gonzalez secured a 10-year lease before investing in the renovations.

“This pool has been part of the fabric of our business and this community since we opened our doors in 2019, so letting it disappear was never something we were willing to accept,” Bolivar said.

The Paxton pool was British Swim School of Worcester’s first location and is particularly important because the town does not have a public community pool, according to the company.

The facility offers year-round group, adult and adaptive swim lessons along with water survival training. Other programs include low-impact Aqua Active classes for older adults, open swim sessions and American Red Cross lifeguard certification.
