Worcester Teen Charged With Carrying Loaded Ghost Gun

WORCESTER, MA — A teen is facing charges after police accused him of being in possession of a loaded, large-capacity firearm, according to the Worcester Police Department.

Eliel Rios, 18, who was known to police from a past firearm-related investigation and arrest, was charged on Monday after police said he was carrying a loaded ghost gun and did not possess a license to carry.

At about 7:45 p.m. on Monday, detectives patrolling near Suffolk and Wall streets noticed two males walking in the area. One of the males was identified as Rios, police said.

Detectives said they noticed the men exhibited characteristics of being armed.

The detectives then approached the two men, and Rios attempted to run away. He was quickly arrested, and a loaded, large-capacity 9mm polymer 80 unserialized firearm, also known as a ghost gun, was recovered from his person, police said.

Rios, who is ineligible to obtain a license to carry, according to police, is now facing multiple charges, including carrying a firearm (second offense), carrying a loaded firearm without an LTC, possession of ammunition without a FID, possession of a large capacity feeding device, possession of an untraceable firearm and resisting arrest.

Police did not include any additional details about the investigation or any upcoming court dates.
