Worcester's Columbus Day Parade This Weekend
The annual Italian tradition returns to Worcester this weekend.

WORCESTER, MA—This city surely embraces the art of the parade.
The next one up of course is the annual Worcester Columbus Day Parade, marching down Shrewsbury Street starting at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8. The parade starts at the corner of Aitchison Street and Shrewsbury Street and ends at Washington Square near Union Station.
The annual Italian tradition, according to the committee's announcement, is a time to honor and celebrate our Italian ancestors that despite extreme adversity, prejudice, and suffering upon arriving in this country, showed determination and strength to not only build successful lives for themselves and their families, but also to contribute in building a strong and successful nation that honors and respects people of all nations.
"The Worcester Columbus Day Parade Committee is proud that we have evolved into a multicultural celebration," said the announcement. "Parade participants demonstrates their cultures, heritage and accomplishments, as part of our multicultural City of Worcester."
The Grand Marshal this year is Mauro DePasquale.
