Worcester's Shore Park Beach At Indian Lake Closed Due To E. Coli
High levels of bacteria tested in the lake have temporarily closed the water.
WORCESTER, MA — A hot weekend is expected and Worcester lake swimmers will have to cross Shore Park Beach off their list. The waters were closed to swimmers on Thursday after E. coli bacteria levels tested too high. Shore Park is part of Indian Lake.
The city issued a public health advisory warning about the lab test results. Elevated E.coli bacteria levels were not detected at Clason Beach. As E.coli test results represent a highly localized area, Clason Beach and Morgan Park are not affected by this advisory.
The City is working with environmental health specialists to monitor water quality and determine the length of the closure.
Officials warned that residents and their pets should stay out of the water. No fishing is allowed in the water either until the tests come back clean. Officials said if you come in contact with Shore Park Beach water you should wash it off immediately.
