Black Bear Spotting in Wrentham

Wrentham authorities remind residents not to leave trash, food or "picnic baskets" outside.

Message from Wrentham Police: “A resident of Benjamin Day Drive, off William Street in the West end, spotted this black bear strolling across the yard. The Mass. Environmental Police tell us this is the season for these creatures to do whatever it is they do. Nevertheless, I think we all wish they’d do it far away from our homes, but clearly that isn’t always the case. So don’t tempt Yogi’s family by leaving trash, food or “picnic baskets” outside. I shouldn’t have to say this but don’t approach a bear if you see one. Even though bear attacks are extremely rare and they prefer to feed on plants, nuts, seeds and small insects, I would suggest you don’t test that theory in real life. If you happen see a bear, try to remain calm and walk slowly in the opposite direction. For information, visit Mass Wildlife on line.
