Fatal Wrentham Crash: Victim Identfied

A Rhode Island motorcyclist was killed and his 15-year-old passenger was seriously hurt in a Wrentham crash Saturday.

Wrentham, MA — One person was killed in a crash involving a car and a motorcycle on Route 1 in Wrentham Saturday afternoon.

The crash took place around 2:10 p.m. just north of Thurston Street, Massachusetts State Police said in a news release. Preliminary investigation revealed a 46-year-old Mansfield man was traveling westbound on Thurston Street in a 2013 Subaru Outback.

The man turned onto Route 1 northbound and then attempted to take a left turn across the adjoining northbound travel lane, resulting in a collision with a 2010 Victory Cross Country motorcycle, police said. The operator of the motorcycle was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The motorcyclist was identified as Joseph Carpentier, 35, of Woonsocket, R.I.

His 15-year-old passenger was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The operator of the Subaru and his three passengers were all uninjured in the crash.

The victim has not been identified. The crash remains under investigation.
