Mayor Menino: Massachusetts Casino Talks Just Getting Started
Despite all the attention that Foxborough is getting, Mayor Menino says Eastern Mass. casino location will be a long process.

Casino talks in Massachusetts are only just beginning.
Boston Mayor Tom Menino, while attending a holiday event Sunday, noted that despite all of the attention on a possible resort style casino in Foxborough, it is just the beginning of a long process, according to the Boston Channel.
“To me, there’s so much excitement about what Bob Kraft is doing,” said Menino in the Boston Channel report. “It frightens me because there’s a process set up with a five member commission that will make the choice on where the casino will go in the future."

Massachusetts officially bet in favor of casino gambling last month as Gov. Patrick signed "" into law at the State House, prompting developers to officially begin talks with particular regions in the state. The law authorizes three resort-style casinos and one slots parlor in Massachusetts. The new state casino law also requires approval in a local referendum for any casino.
On Dec. 2, it was announced that Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Las Vegas casino mogul Steve Wynn are in discussions for a resort style casino to be constructed across from Gillette Stadium.
