Public Safety Alert: Bomb Squad and Hazmat Teams Summoned to the Scene of a Chemical Spill
The potential for explosion and pesticide exposure is high. Neighbors have been ordered to shelter in place.

Wrentham Police and Fire responded to 500 West St. house just after 2 Thursday afternoon for a reported chemical spill in a greenhouse to the rear of the residence.
Fire department personnel confirmed an unidentified chemical was spilled and creating an odor. It was also determined other unknown products and an unknown quantity of blasting caps were present at the scene, according to police. Blasting caps are a small primary explosive device generally used to detonate a larger explosive device.

At this time, the potential for explosion and pesticide exposure is high. Neighbors have been ordered to shelter in place and West Street, Route 121, is closed between Bennett Street and Green Street. Hazmat technicians and the Bomb Squad are responding to this scene.
The scene is currently contained and there are no injuries.
