State Fines Bill's Automotive Center for Inspection Emissions Fraud
The state and Bill's Automotive Center have reached a settlement that will force Bill's Automotive Center in Wrentham to pay $116,000.

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley office is forcing Bill and Michael Daly of Wrentham, the owners of Bill's Automotive Center, to pay $116,000 in a settlement for issuing passing inspection stickers to cars that failed emissions control tests, according to a report in the Boston Business Journal.
“By putting these faulty vehicles back on the road to make a few extra bucks, we believe these licensed motor vehicle inspectors intentionally violated the law that protects the air we breathe from pollutants,” Coakley said.

As part of settlement, Bill Daly is prohibited from ever conducting emissions tests, while his nephew, Michael, will be suspended for the next 15 months. Bill's Automotive won't be allowed to do inspections for three-month perionds during the next year and half. Bill Daly, Bill's Automotive and JMB Realty are paying $100,000, while Michael Daly is paying $16,000 as part of a civil penalty.
Coakley also said Bill's Automotive is allegedly violating the state's hazardous waste management law. The state says Bill's Automotive has allegedly used a leaking industrial wastewater holding tank that may have polluted groundwater, didn't register a "small generator" of waste oil with state Department of Environmental Protection and didn't comply with signage requirements.
