My name is Andrew Allen, and I am a junior at King Philip High School. I am a member of the KP boys' varsity soccer team, and I will be blogging about our upcoming season and events. Recently, the team took part in the Norton Summer League, which is a way to keep in soccer shape and play games during the summer. We finished the season in fourth place, one spot out of a playoff berth. However, one of the playoff teams dropped out, so we ended up in the knockout games. We beat Attleboro in the first round on penalty kicks, with goals scored in the penalty kick round by Jack Staal, Joe Kellet, and me. We then beat Mansfield on penalty kicks as well, with Staal and Kellet scoring to bring us to the finals. Our goalkeeper, Colin Settle, went down with a knee injury in the Mansfield game, so we had to take on the fully loaded Norton squad without a trained goalie. We battled hard, but suffered a bitter 2-0 loss. It was a great playoff run for KP, and it showed that we can play with and beat the best teams in the Hockomock League.
