Where Does the National Geography Bee Champion Live?

The answer is Pllainville. Sathwik Karnik won a $25,000 scholarship for winning the National Geography Bee.

"Because Earth bulges at the equator, the point that is farthest from Earth's center is the summit of a peak in Ecuador. Name this peak."

Plainville's Sathwik Karnik, 12, Β knew the answer to that question and that's why is the National Geography Bee Champion after winning the competition in Washington D.C.Β 

Karhik comes from a family with a passion for geography. Since coming to America when he was six, geography has by stressed by his mother,Β Rathma, and her husband, Vishwanath, who work in the software industry came from Mangalore, India, in 2002.Β His older brother, Kathik, 15, made it the finals twice in 2011 and 2012.

"It feels like I just finished something that he wanted to finish, so I sort of in a way completed his unfinished business," said Sathwik.

For his victory, there was a $25,00 scholarship, a trip to the Galapagos Islands and a lifetime member in the National Geographic Society.Β
