Wrentham Man Admits to Sexually Abusing Preschool Children

Kyle Loughlin, 23, pleaded guilty in Brockton Superior Court to three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.

BROCKTON, MA — A Wrentham man admitted Friday to sexually assaulting children while working at the Bridgwater State University Children's Center.

Kyle Loughlin, 23, pleaded guilty in Brockton Superior Court to two counts of three counts of rape and abuse of a child, three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 years old, and one count of larceny from a building, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office. He was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in prison and 10 years of probation.

Between January and March 2015, Loughlin inappropriately touched three preschool-aged girls while working at the university's children's center. The plea prevents the victims from having to testify in court.

"Mr. Loughlin used his position at this daycare to take advance of the innocence of these young, impressionable children," District Attorney Tim Cruz said in a statement. "Today's resolution is in the best interest of these children and their families and prevents these youngsters from being further victimized at trial."

Following his release, Loughlin must register as a sex offender, seek treatment, wear a GPS monitor, have no contact with the victims and have no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 16.
