Wrentham's Palioca Earns Pitcher of the Week Honors
Wheaton College pitcher Alex Palioca was named pitcher of the week for the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference.

Wheaton College junior Alec Palioca (Wrentham, Mass./King Philip Regional) has been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Pitcher of the Week by the league office, it was announced Monday.
Palioca no-hit Coast Guard over seven innings pitched in his only start on the week for Wheaton April 5. Palioca, who was pulled with his no-hitter still intact, walked two batters and struck out a season-high nine hitters in the Lyons 4-0 win.
In six appearances this season (all starts), Palioca is 5-1 overall with a 1.83 earned run average and 41 strikeouts in 39.1 innings pitched. Palioca ranks first in the NEWMAC in wins along with senior teammate Frank Holbrook (Middletown, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey School), second in strikeouts, fourth in innings pitched and sixth in strikeouts per game (9.38). Palioca has also limited his opponents to a .199 batting average.
