Wrentham's Palioca Looks to Spend Summer in Cape Cod League.

Wrentham's Alec Paloica is pitching in the Cape Cod League on a temporary contract.

Wrentham's Alec Paloica is on two baseball team's rosters this summer.

He is pitching for the Cotuit Kettleers in the Cape Cod League after signing a temporary contact and is now hoping to hook on with the team for the summer.

Mansfield's Rhett Wiseman, a freshman out of Vanderblit University, is in the outfield, while Easton's Ryan Grant, who also plays at Wheaton, is in the Cotuit bullpen. Grant is also on a temporary contract.

Paloica is also on the roster for the Brockton Rox this summer in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.

A year ago, Palioca was on the staff of th league's Torrington Titans and was one of the top pitchers in the league with a 9-1 record and a 1.07 earned run average. He had 57 strikeouts in 58.2 innings, while only 14 walks.

This spring, Palioca had an outstanding season for the Wheaton College baseball team, earning New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Pitcher of the Year honors for the second-straight season, while going 6-1 overall in 11 games (10 starts) on 61.1 innings pitched. Palioca compiled a 2.35 ERA, 62 strikeouts (9.10 per game) and held opponents to a .230 batting average (52-for-226).
