Wrentham Selectmen Approve Purchase of Two Trucks
Selectmen stress cost savings in new purchase.

The Wrentham Board of Selectmen approved the purchase of two trucks for the town water department at its meeting Tuesday night.
Board Chairman Joseph Botaish said the purchase had been a long time coming, but the town was able to save substantial funds.
"There was approval at Town Meeting for $120,000 for a water truck in 2010," he said. "Since then, we've sat down with Mr. [Irving] Priest, discussed the town needs, and were able to scale $129,000 down to $30,000."

Botaish said such moves were necessary in the current economy.
"We realized that, the way business has been going, we can't justify [that cost] 100 percent," he said.

Department of Public Works Superintendent Irving Priest said the town would be getting good value for its money.
"What we're buying — or proposing to buy — is what we purchased in 1998," he said. "[Assistant DPW Superintendent] Mr. Manchester dragged out the quote in 1998, and it's about the same.
