Wrentham Selectmen Vote to Hire Police Officer

The Wrentham Board of Selectmen dealt with some police business Tuesday night.

The Wrentham Board of Selectmen voted to hire a permanent police officer on Tuesday night, among other police business.

The board considered a request from Police Chief James Anderson to hire Peter Lown as an officer.

"He's currently an intermittent officer in Plainville," Board Chairman Joseph Botaish said.

The board voted unanimously to approve the hire.

Botaish said matters would be set in motion shortly.

"It looks like, once he's approved, he'll go to the police academy in November 2011," he said.

The board also approved Anderson's request to donate two used vehicles — a 1996 Jeep Cherokee and a 1996 Ford Taurus — to Helping Hands of America.
