10-15 People Connected To MI Sex Abuse Report Could Be Charged: Report

INTERLOCHEN, MI — Prosecutors believe 10 to 15 people could be charged in connection to a report that detailed decades of sex abuse at Interlochen Center for the Arts in northern Michigan school, according to a report.

Grand Traverse County Prosecutor Noelle Moeggenberg told 9&10 News that she is looking at what cases can be charged given their age.

"That determination will be made when we know how many cases can still be prosecuted," Moggenberg told the news station. "My office will do everything possible to prosecute any case where the victim wants to go forward and we are not barred by the statute of limitations."

She also said the Michigan Attorney General’s Office offered to help.

The 97-page investigation by Massachusetts-based Sanghavi Law Office found that nearly 50 adults, including staff members and Jeffrey Epstein, sexually groomed and abused more than 70 students.

The report traced incidents back to the 1950s, though some claims happened as recently as the 2000s. The accused abusers include former board members, administrators, camp counselors, trustees, donors and visiting artists.

None of the accused abusers are still with the camp and more than a third of the 47 have died, according to the report.

Jeffrey Epstein was also named 52 times in the report. He attended the school's summer arts camp as a youth and went on to donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to Interlochen in the 1990s and 2000s, according to the report.

Court documents showed that Epstein met his first known victim at the camp in 1994.

In light of the report, school officials said they plan to implement a series of changes that will include better reporting for sexual misconduct, counseling and other resources.
