18 Inches Of Snow Possible In Some Parts Of MI In Late-Season Storm

A winter storm could dump more than a foot of snow in some parts of Michigan, while others will mostly see rain, forecasters said.

MICHIGAN — A late-season winter storm could dump more than a foot of snow in some parts of Michigan, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow will begin falling in the central and western portions of the Upper Peninsula overnight into Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Some areas, particularly around Marquette can see up to 18 inches of heavy, wet snow by Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Other parts of northern Michigan will see a rain/snow six, while most of lower Michigan, including Southeast Michigan will see overnight rain showers with occasional light snow showers, according to the National Weather Service.

Any overnight snow showers in the metro Detroit area should fade away by Tuesday morning as temperatures climb toward the upper 40s, according to the National Weather Service.

Little to no snow accumulations were expected in the metro Detroit area before rain showers move back into the area Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain showers should clear out by Wednesday as temperatures in the metro Detroit area inch back toward 60 degrees to finish out the work week, according to the National Weather Service.
