3.1 Million Ballots Already Cast In MI: See Latest Data

Nearly 3.1 million of Michigan's 7 million registered voters have already cast ballots ahead of Election Day.

MICHIGAN — More than 3.1 million Michiganders have already cast their ballots in Tuesday’s 2024 presidential election, joining nearly 76.5 million Americans who have cast mail-in or early in-person votes.

According to a Monday analysis by NBC News of data from election officials across the country, 46 percent of early votes in Michigan were cast by Democrats, 43 percent were by Republicans and 11 percent were by people who haven’t declared a party.

Not all Michigan residents who requested an early-vote ballot had returned them by Monday. The returned ballots represent 49 percent of those requested by Democrats, 39 percent by Republicans and 12 percent by no-party voters.

Early in-person voting is now closed in Michigan and anyone looking to vote will have to Tuesday in-person at their local precinct. Officials do not recommend sending absentee ballots through the mail, and encourage voters to drop those off at their local drop box to ensure their vote is counted in time.

If you still need to register to vote, you can do so at driver’s license facilities, your county clerk’s office, city or village offices, township offices or public libraries. You’ll need two forms of ID, and at least one must show your current address. Online voter registration has closed.

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5. If you are already in line to vote when the polls close, you can still vote — so don't leave! If you don't know your polling place, find it here.

The campaigns of both former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, and his Democratic opponent Vice President Kamala Harris have pushed early voting to bank votes ahead of Election Day. Of early votes cast nationally, 41 percent have been cast by Democrats, 39 percent by Republicans and 20 percent by no-party voters.

Besides the all-important presidential race, Michigan voters will decide 13 U.S. House races a Senate race on the federal ballot, as well as multiple state house and senate races.
