6 MI Employers Make Fortune's Best Companies To Work For 2026 List

Six companies headquartered in Michigan were named to Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For list, reflecting the state's strong presence in this year's rankings.

The ranking evaluates companies largely on confidential employee surveys measuring trust, job satisfaction and workplace culture.

The 2026 list was topped by Synchrony, a Connecticut-based financial services and insurance company, followed by Hilton, a Virginia-based hospitality company.

Plante Moran, based in Southfield, is Michigan's highest ranked company on the list at No. 15.

Employees say Plante Moran offers a comforting atmosphere with kind people who are willing to go out of their way to help.

"I have finally found a place that supports continued learning and growth, and cares for their employees," one employee said. "PM is not just checking the box for goodwill, but they invest and go above and beyond in caring for their employees and clients."

No. 15 Plante Moran, Professional Services, Southfield

No. 18 Credit Acceptance, Financial Services and Insurance, Southfield

No. 23 Rocket Companies, Real Estate, Detroit

No. 51 Ally Financial Inc., Financial Services and Insurance, Detroit

No. 55 Stryker, Manufacturing and Production, Portage

No. 73 Dow, Manufacturing and Production, Midland

To be considered for the Fortune list, companies must employ at least 1,000 workers in the U.S. and be certified by Great Place to Work.

This year's rankings were based on feedback from more than 1.3 million employees nationwide. Only companies with consistently high responses across 60 survey statements earned placement on the list, according to Fortune.
