Accumulating Snow Returns To MI This Weekend: Here's What To Know

Some parts of Michigan can see up to 5 inches of snow, while other parts can only see up to an inch of snow by Sunday, forecasters said.

MICHIGAN — After multiple record setting warm days the past few weeks, winter returns to Michigan with accumulating snow this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

The first half of the storm will bring rain showers to most of Michigan early Friday afternoon when temperatures climb toward the 50s, according to the National Weather Service.

Most of the rain showers in the northern parts of Michigan will then shift over to snow overnight Friday when temperatures fall into the 30s, according to the National Weather Service.

In the lower half of Michigan, rain will stick around throughout Saturday before shifting over to snow during the nighttime hours when temperatures plummet into the 30s, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow will then blanket most of Michigan throughout Sunday morning with temperatures in the 30s, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters believe parts of northern Michigan, including the Traverse City areas, will see between 2 and 5 inches of fresh snow by Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters believe the Thumb region will see between 1 and 2 inches of fresh snow and up to 1 inch of snow across southwest and southeastern Michigan by Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

After the two-day weather system, spring like temperatures return to Michigan next week, according to the National Weather Service.

Monday will see highs in the low 50s across Michigan, before temperatures roar back into the 60s Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
