'Aircraft Issue' Postpones First Lady's Michigan Visit

First Lady Jill Biden was scheduled to be in Michigan on Monday, but returned to Denver due to an "aircraft issue," an official said.

Biden's last Michigan visit was in July 2022, when she and Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona visited Detroit Public Schools to discuss the American Rescue Plan​.

DENVER, CO — First Lady Jill Biden's stop Monday in Michigan was postponed due to an "aircraft issue," according to her press secretary.

"Due to an aircraft issue en route Michigan, the First Lady was diverted back to Denver, Colorado," Press Secretary Vanessa Valdivia tweeted 12:20 p.m. MDT Monday.

Valdivia did not provide a new date for the visit.

"Everyone is safe," Valdivia tweeted a few minutes after sharing news of the aircraft problem. "We’re back on the ground in Denver."

Biden was set to be in Michigan as part of the president's Investing in America Tour and was to focus on programs designed to help high school and community college students find jobs that will open up in the coming years.

White House officials did not say Friday where in Michigan the first lady would visit.

Biden's last Michigan visit was in July 2022, when she and Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona visited Detroit Public Schools to discuss the American Rescue Plan.
