Gas prices across Michigan jumped 22 cents over the last week, pushing average prices across the state back over $4 Monday morning, according to AAA.
Michiganders paid an average of $4.04 for a gallon of regular gas Monday morning, up 22 cents from last week and $1 from this time last year, according to AAA.
The average price for a full 15-gallon tank of gas across the state jumped roughly $9 this week from the highest prices last year in August 2025, according to AAA.
Prices in the metro Detroit area were also up. The average price for a regular gallon of gas in the area was $4.09, up 17 cents from last week and 96 cents from this time last year, according to AAA.
The most expensive per-gallon gasoline prices in Michigan were in Marquette at $4.09, Metro Detroit at $4.09, and Ontanogon at $4.27, according to AAA.
The least expensive averages were in Muskegon at $3.96, Oceana and Mason counties at $3.97 each, according to AAA.
