BLUE LAKE TOWNSHIP, MI — Police are looking for a kayaker who disappeared on a west Michigan river over the weekend.
Justin Wolfiss, 44, and a friend were kayaking Sunday on White River in Blue Lake Township, according to police.
The pair entered the river at Sischo Bayou around 1:30 p.m. and were traveling downstream toward the Happy Mohawk Canoe Livery near Diamond Point, a trip that typically takes three to four hours, according to police.
Police said the kayakers got separated early in the trip. They did not add any additional details about how the kayakers got separated.
Justin's friend arrived at Diamond Point at 7 p.m. and waited several hours for Justin, but he never reached the destination, according to police.
Police said Justin's vehicle was still parked at Sischo Bayou and family and friends have not heard from him.
He was last seen wearing a t-shirt with birds on it and shorts. He was paddling a green-colored kayak.
Police ask anyone who was on the White River Monday afternoon or evening, has property along the river, or may have seen Justin, his green kayak, or any other information to call the Michigan State Police Grand Rapids Post at 616-866-4411 or call 911.
