This Breakfast Sandwich Is Ranked Among The Best In MI

Michigan has no shortage of places to grab a breakfast sandwich, but one favorite has been singled out in a new national ranking.

The Daily Meal named Mitsos Greek Food and Coffee in Detroit the best breakfast sandwich spot in Michigan, highlighting its egg and cheese pita in a list of the best breakfast sandwiches in every state.

The list said breakfast sandwiches remain one of the country’s favorite morning meals, with shops across the United States putting their own spin on the basic combination of meat, cheese, eggs and bread. The Daily Meal said its picks included coffee shops, diners, bakeries, brunch restaurants and other local favorites.

The Daily Meal described the the egg and cheese pita as one of the best simple breakfast sandwiches you'll ever come across, especially for less than $5.

"This sandwich only uses three ingredients, so the fact that it's highly praised by locals is a testament to just how well those ingredients are prepared," the Daily Meal wrote.

The full list includes breakfast sandwiches ranging from buttermilk biscuit sandwiches in the South to bagel sandwiches in the Northeast, along with croissant, focaccia, pita, waffle and English muffin versions.
