LAFCU hires LaTora Walker, Terri May for key roles

LAFCU has hired LaTora Walker as senior vice president of human resources and Terri May as director of corporate improvement.

LaTora Walker brings more than 20 years of progressive human resources leadership experience to the credit union. In her new role, she oversees LAFCU's human resources operations, including talent acquisition, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, compliance and union relations.

Walker most recently served as human resources manager at Bridgewater Interiors in Lansing, where she supervised a five-person HR team and supported more than 700 employees. Her background includes experience in performance management, onboarding and retention strategies, employee investigations, leadership coaching and contract negotiations.

Previously, Walker served as a corporate human resources generalist for Dakkota Integrated Systems LLC, where she supported succession planning and talent development and advised leaders on HR policies and employee performance matters. She also served as interim human resources manager at the company's Chicago facility.

A resident of Holt, Walker earned an associate degree in business administration and a bachelor's degree in human resources management from Davenport University in Grand Rapids. She also holds a SHRM-SCP certification from the Society for Human Resource Management.

Walker also volunteers in leadership roles with Toys for Tots and the American Cancer Society and has previously dedicated her time to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Terri May joins LAFCU as director of corporate improvement, where she oversees enterprise risk management, governance, policy and procedure management, and operational service delivery.

She brings nearly 30 years of banking and operational leadership experience. Most recently, May served as vice president and regional operations manager team manager at Comerica Bank, where she led a team supporting operational excellence across 70 banking centers in west and central Michigan.

Before joining Comerica, May spent nearly 20 years with Fifth Third Bank in Lansing, where she held leadership roles focused on financial center operations, employee development and customer service. She earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and a Master of Business Administration from Northwood University. She also holds certifications in compliance, operational risk management, fraud prevention and risk management frameworks through the American Bankers Association.
