LAFCU offers free workshop to help businesses protect themselves against cyberthreats and more

Entrepreneurs are increasingly turning to artificial intelligence and other technology to help their businesses grow. But with those opportunities come new challenges — from cyberthreats and fraud to protecting sensitive information and making smart financial decisions.

LAFCU and Grassroots Giving Lansing will help entrepreneurs navigate those challenges during Securing Success: Cyber Smart, Business Strong, the next event in their Entrepreneurship Mixer Series. The free session will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at LAFCU headquarters, 106 N. Marketplace Blvd. in Lansing.

The event is designed to give entrepreneurs and small-business owners practical ways to use technology to support growth while protecting their businesses, private information and financial futures. Topics will include artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and financial planning, including how business owners can build wealth beyond their businesses.

Presenters include Kyle Anderson, security engineer at LAFCU; John Clifford, network engineer at LAFCU; and Russell Dawson, investment representative at LAFCU Investment Services.

"Technology can open new doors for entrepreneurs, but taking advantage of those opportunities also means understanding the risks that come with them," said Tamera Carter, vice president of membership growth and development at LAFCU. "We want business owners to leave with practical information they can use right away — whether that means protecting themselves from AI-enabled fraud, strengthening cybersecurity or making smarter decisions that support the future of their business."

In addition to the educational sessions, attendees will have opportunities to connect with other entrepreneurs and local business leaders over lunch and informal conversation.

The Entrepreneurship Mixer Series is designed to provide practical information, connections and resources to help entrepreneurs and small-business owners strengthen and grow their businesses.
