6 MI Beaches Closed, Under Advisory Ahead Of Labor Day Weekend

Four Michigan beaches are closed and two others are under a contaminatory advisory ahead of Labor Day weekend, according to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy.

The closures and advisory come as forecasters expect great beach weather for the holiday weekend.

Here is the current closure and advisory list as of 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4:

• Groveland Oaks County Park (Paradise Beach), Stewart Lake, Oakland County - closed due to high bacteria levels from wildlife.
• Lake Oakland Shores, Lake Oakland, Oakland County - closed due to high bacteria levels from wildlife.
• Quarry Beach, Schoolcraft County, Quarry Swim Area at Central Park in Manistique - contamination advisory due to high bacteria levels from stormwater runoff.
• Richardi Park, Lake Bellaire, Antrim County - contamination advisory due to high bacteria levels from an unspecified source.
• Stony Creek Metropark (Eastwood Beach), Macomb County, Stoney Creek Lake - closed due to high bacteria levels from an unspecified source.
• Van Buren Township Park, Wayne County, Belleville Lake - closed due to high bacteria levels from an unspecified source.
