MACKINAC ISLAND, MI — Mackinac Island has been voted the best place in the to visit for fall in the U.S.
It's the second straight year Mackinac Island earned the top spot in the USA Today 10Best ranking.
"The vibes are just right on Mackinac Island each fall," USA Today said. "Crisp, sunny days with vibrant foliage give way to a slower pace of life in this resort town."
The outlet noted a carriage ride is one of the best ways to see Michigan's fall colors on the island. They also pointed out the fun kids can have trick-or-treating at the island's downtown shops.
The island, which is well known for its fudge, is hosting its Fall Fudge Festival on Oct. 2-3. The island will also be lined with fall decor and guests can enjoy scenic bike rides through vibrant foliage.
To earn the top spot, the island beat out towns known for their fall colors, such as Sleepy Hollow in New York, Vermont's Burlington and Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
