Multiple waves of rain will move through the metro Detroit area Thursday and into the overnight hours, according to the National Weather Service.
Scattered rain showers will persist throughout the morning hours before more widespread rain moves into the area during the afternoon hours when highs climb toward 80 degrees, according to NWS.
The heaviest rain will come down along with a cold front between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. Friday, according to NWS.
Forecasters expect most areas will see between 1 and 2 inches of rain through Friday morning, though some local areas could see more than 2 inches, according to NWS.
The heavy rain can cause minor flooding in low-lying, urban and other flood-prone areas, forecasters warned, adding it will also create dangerous driving conditions.
The rain showers will quickly fade away Friday morning with highs remaining in the 60s throughout the day, according to NWS.
Fall-like weather is expected for the weekend with highs in the 60s and plenty of sunshine, according to NWS.
That stretch of weather will continue into early next week, according to NWS.
