A Grand Traverse County man described an unreal feeling after hitting the $6.79 million Lotto 47 jackpot from the Michigan Lottery.
The 48-year-old man, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his ticket at Northland Food Center, 2377 E. M-133 in Kingsley, according to the Michigan Lottery.
The ticket matched the six Lotto 47 numbers drawn Aug. 15: 4, 16, 28, 30, 36 and 37.
He told lottery officials that he regularly plays the lottery because "you can't win if you don't play."
"I got on the Michigan Lottery app to check the winning numbers the day after the drawing," he said. "When I saw I matched all six and won the $6.79 million jackpot, I wanted to scream! I kept blinking and thinking to myself: 'This can't be right.' It was unreal."
He decided to receive his winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of about $4.7 million rather than annuity payments for the full amount.
With his winnings, he plans to buy a house, invest and take a few trips.
The $6.79 million jackpot marks the largest Lotto 47 jackpot won this year.
