LAFCU has named Laura Blanding director of corporate education, a new position focused on strengthening employee development, cultivating future leaders and supporting the credit union's long-term growth.
Blanding will lead LAFCU's corporate education strategy, overseeing employee onboarding, compliance training, leadership development and continuing education. She also will work with department leaders to identify training needs and develop programs that help employees grow and succeed.
"When we invest in our employees, we're investing in the future of LAFCU and the members we serve," said Robyn Howell, LAFCU executive vice president and chief operating officer. "Laura brings decades of credit union experience and a deep understanding of our industry. Her leadership will help our team members build the skills and confidence to grow professionally while ensuring LAFCU is prepared for what's ahead."
Blanding joined LAFCU in 2025, bringing more than 32 years of credit union experience. Previously, she held senior leadership positions in business development and lending at Lansing-area credit unions, with experience spanning commercial, consumer, mortgage, and indirect lending, as well as collections.
Blanding holds an associate degree in business from Lansing Community College. She also serves as treasurer of the Capital Area Housing Partnership, a nonprofit focused on affordable housing, financial stability and homeownership opportunities in mid-Michigan.
