Early in-person voting opened across Michigan last Saturday, drawing more than 134,000 voters to the sites over the first two days, according to state officials.

More than 1.1 million voted with a mail (absentee) ballot and over 215,000 cast their ballot at an early voting site, according to Michigan Department of State data.

Michigan's Deputy Secretary of State Aghogho Edevbie said the first weekend of early in-person voting was "a great success."

"Michigan voters are showing enthusiasm for early in-person voting," Edevbie said. "Voters are using this convenient option to cast their ballot before polls open on Election Day. I want to thank our state's dedicated local clerks and poll workers who helped make the success of this past weekend possible."

This is the first midterm statewide general election with early in-person voting available for every Michigan voter.

Early voting will continue through Sunday, Nov. 1, for at least eight hours every day. Some communities will offer additional early voting hours on Monday, Nov. 2.

Look up your early voting site and times at mi.gov/earlyvoting.

Absentee ballots must be received by your local clerk's office no later than 8 p.m. on election night (Nov. 3). Election officials recommend that anyone who has not yet mailed back their absentee ballot either use a local ballot drop box or hand-deliver it to the clerk's office to avoid postal delays.

Voters can track the status of their ballot at mi.gov/trackballot.
