As LAFCU celebrates its 90th anniversary, the Michigan credit union is investing in its future with the addition of two financial leaders whose extensive credit union experience will help guide continued growth, innovation and service to members.

Tony Molina has joined LAFCU as chief financial officer, and Patrick Haughey, CPA, has been named vice president of finance. Together, they bring a combination of executive leadership, financial strategy and industry-specific expertise to help LAFCU respond to changing member needs while building on its longstanding commitment to financial well-being.

"For 90 years, LAFCU has grown and evolved by staying focused on what matters most — our members," said Patrick Spyke, LAFCU CEO. "Tony and Patrick understand the credit union difference and bring the expertise to help us make smart decisions and embrace new opportunities. Our history shows what can happen when you put members first. Our responsibility now is to make sure LAFCU is just as relevant and valuable to the next generation as it has been to the generations before them."

Molina brings more than 20 years of credit union executive leadership experience, including a decade as CEO of two credit unions in New York and New Jersey. His background extends beyond financial management to organizational growth, strategic planning, technology innovation and expanding access to financial services.

As CEO, Molina led initiatives that increased lending, expanded membership opportunities and introduced digital banking capabilities to better serve members. He most recently provided strategic financial leadership as a fractional and interim CFO with Charles River CFO.

At LAFCU, Molina serves on the executive leadership team, helping guide the credit union's financial strategy and long-term direction.

Molina earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Western Michigan University and a master's degree in finance from Walsh College. He also holds the Certified Chief Executive Officer designation from the Credit Union Executives Society.

Haughey brings specialized expertise in credit union financial management, strategic planning and regulatory oversight. A Michigan-licensed CPA, he most recently served as a finance executive and CFO for two credit unions through MiCUSO, a Michigan-based organization that provides shared financial leadership services to credit unions. In that role, he advised executives and boards on financial performance, investment strategy and long-term planning.

Earlier in his career, Haughey was a senior auditor specializing in credit unions, giving him a broad perspective on the financial opportunities and challenges facing institutions of varying sizes.

As LAFCU's vice president of finance, Haughey works closely with Molina to support financial planning, investment analysis and informed decision-making that advances the credit union's strategic priorities.

Haughey earned a master's degree in accounting from Grand Valley State University and a bachelor's degree from Aquinas College.

The appointments come during a milestone year for LAFCU, which was founded in 1936 by 10 Lansing autoworkers who pooled $95 to help one another meet their financial needs. Today, LAFCU serves members across Michigan, continuing that people-helping-people legacy while adapting to the changing ways members live, work and manage their finances.
