4 More Inches Of Snow Possible As 2-Part Winter Storm Hits: MI Weather

Forecasters warned wind chills could drop 10 to 15 degrees below zero across Michigan.

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — The first wave of a two-part snow system moved into southeastern Michigan Thursday morning, as the region prepares for even more snow and dangerously cold wind chills, according to the National Weather Service.

Light snow showers moved across southeastern Michigan Thursday morning, creating slippery road conditions during the morning commute. Forecasters expect up to 2 inches of fresh snow across the region by noon when highs reach the low 20s, according to the National Weather Service.

Some areas along the Michigan 59 corridor and southward can see up to 3 inches of fresh snow by Thursday afternoon when the snow starts fading away, according to the National Weather Service.

Another round of snow showers will move into southeastern Michigan late Thursday night and continue into Friday morning, bringing up to 4 inches of fresh snow to the region, according to the National Weather Service.

Areas along the Lake Huron shoreline in southeastern Michigan will see higher amounts of snowfall Friday, while most areas in metro Detroit should see between 2-3 inches of fresh snow Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures across southeastern Michigan will stay in the 20s Friday, before dropping to single digits in the nighttime hours with dangerously cold wind chills, according to the National Weather Service.

Wind chills will range between 10 and 15 degrees below zero Saturday morning, before slightly warming up into the 20s, according to the National Weather Service.

Light snow also fell across western Michigan Thursday morning, with areas around Grand Rapids picking up roughly an inch of fresh snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters expect more snow with light accumulations across the Grand Rapids region Friday morning, as dangerously cold air settles in the region, according to the National Weather Service.
