SAGINAW, MI — After delivering the State of the Union address Thursday, President Joe Biden plans to visit Mid-Michigan next week, according to multiple reports citing White House officials.

A recent poll showed Biden trailing Trump in a head-to-head matchup in Michigan (45 percent to 41 percent, with 14 percent undecided) amid widespread calls for a cease-fire in the Hamas-Israel conflict.
Although Biden handily won Michigan's U.S. Presidential Primary, securing 81 percent of the Democratic vote, more than 100,000 votes were cast for "uncommitted," which members of the Arab American and Muslim communities, including Dearborn-area Rep. Rashida Tlaib, celebrated in protest of Biden's handling of the Hamas-Israel conflict.

Moreover, the "Uncommitted" vote actually defeated Biden in Dearborn, Dearborn Heights and Hamtramck - three cities with large Arab and Muslim populations. In recent days, Biden has pushed for a cease-fire deal in the Hamas-Israel conflict.
Biden's last visit to Michigan was earlier this year after the United Auto Workers union endorsed him in the primary. Speaking at a UAW union hall in Warren, where he told roughly 100 UAW workers they're the biggest reason why the economy is growing.
"Wall Street didn’t build the middle class; labor built the middle class and the middle class built the country," Biden said. "When labor does well, everyone does well."
In 2020, Biden won Michigan by 154,000 votes or 3 percentage points 51 percent - 48 percent over former President Donald Trump. Trump easily defeated former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley in Michigan's primary.
