Boy, 10, Accidentally Shot By Older Sibling Inside MI Home: Police

KALAMAZOO, MI — A 10-year-old boy is recovering after he was shot by his adult sibling last week in west Michigan, according to police.

The shooting happened at 10:14 p.m. last Friday inside a home located in the 600 block of Davis Street in Kalamazoo, according to police.

Investigators determined the boy's adult sibling unintentionally fired a gun from the home's second floor. They said the bullet traveled through the floor and struck the boy in the shoulder.

The boy was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police said he was released later that night.

Police said social media posts stating the boy was shot by a stray bullet fired by neighbors during an argument are false.

Police are still investigating the shooting and said charges are possible.
