Drive DNR Routes And Trails For Free This Weekend
Michigan residents can legally drive all DNR routes and trails for free without a license this weekend.

MICHIGAN—The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is offering drivers a chance to drive DNR designed routes and trails this weekend for free without a license. All ORV rules and laws, however, still apply.
This includes the state's 4,000 miles of off-road trails and the state’s six scramble areas, including Black Lake, Bull Gap, Holly Oaks ORV Park, The Mounds Scramble Area, Silver Lake ORV Area and St. Helen’s Motorsport Area.
While you do not need a license this weekend, the DNR hopes drivers will consider purchasing a license for future use. All fees generated through the sale of ORV licenses and trail permits are reinvested back into the ORV system. They help fund trail expansion, maintenance and infrastructure improvements, such as bridge and culvert construction and repair, as well as law enforcement and the offsetting of damage created by illegal use. The cost is $26.25 for an ORV license and $10 for a trail permit for a total of $36.25.
