Driver Injured In Oakland County Crash After Suffering Opioid Overdose: Police
The driver was taken to a nearby hospital and listed in critical condition, according to police.
SOUTHFIELD, MI — A driver was injured in a crash on an Oakland County freeway Wednesday night after suffering a drug overdose, according to Michigan State Police.
The crash happened at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday on the Southfield Freeway near 9 Mile Road in Southfield, according to police.
Police said the driver suffered an opioid overdose and passed out. The driver then lost control and crashed into the back of another vehicle before smashing into a guardrail, according to police.

"After interviewing the passenger of the at-fault vehicle it was determined that the driver had passed out due to an opioid overdose and then lost control of the car. He is currently being treated for that overdose at a local hospital," Michigan State Police First Lt. Mike Shaw said.
