Heavy Rain, Chance Of Severe Storms Tuesday: Metro Detroit Weather

The heaviest rainfall and storms are expected along and south of the Interstate 96 and Interstate 696 corridor in southeastern Michigan.

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — Heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely across southeastern Michigan Tuesday as cooler air moves into the region, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms are expected to move into the southeastern Michigan area sometime after 11 a.m. and should wrap up by the late afternoon hours, according to the weather service.

National weather forecasters warned the storms can produce heavy rainfall, large hail up to 1 inch and damaging winds reaching up to 60 miles per hour.

They also warned some southeastern Michigan areas can see more than 2 inches of rain per hour through the afternoon hours Tuesday.

High temperatures will then hover around 80 degrees with comfortable humidity levels through the rest of the week across southeastern Michigan, according to the weather service.
